SHIMANO

Shimano is one of the undisputed leaders in the fishing world and has been for years. Their rods and reels are well known and have an extremely loyal following. Their umbrella also includes G.Loomis, another extremely well-known brand, and they are also the United States arm of Jackall lures. Power-Pro braided line is also part of the family and with so many great brands, there are always plenty of new items each year.

VANFORD SPINNING REEL

This new reel was awarded the best new spinning reel at ICAST 2020 Online and it appears to be well deserved based on the specifications and features. It fits in the same price point as the popular Stradic CI4+ and includes the same lightweight nature of that reel.

It has Shimano’s MicroModule II gearing, MangumLite (MGL) rotor. It will be offered in a wide range of sizes designed for everything from ice fishing for panfish to saltwater flats fishing for redfish.

SYMETRE SPINNING COMBO

The Symetre name has been around for years and the new version will be available as a rod and reel combo for under $100. The reel is lightweight and has Shimano’s Propulsion Line Management System for long-distance casting.

It is paired on a high-quality graphite rod blank with stainless steel frame guides with Aluminum Oxide inserts.

NEW G.LOOMIS IMX PRO RODS

The G.Loomis name is synonymous with quality and they continue to advance along with technique-specific rods as new trends hit the fishing world. This year they added rods made for small swimbaits, bladed jigs, Ned Rigs, lipless crankbaits, and offshore fishing.

There are 10 new rods in the lineup, with a mix of spinning and casting rods built for today’s bass angler.

Three of the new IMX PRO rods are built for smaller swimbaits. There are two 7’2” casting models, a medium action (862C SWBR) and a medium-heavy (863C SWBR). The spinning model is a 7’4” medium (882S SWBR). For lipless crankbaits, they added a 7’ medium-heavy (855C CBR).

They also released two Ned-Rig specific rods based on the massive popularity of this finesse technique. The medium-light version is 6’11” (831S FINR) and the 7’4” medium (882S FINR); both are spinning rods.

For vibrating jigs, they have two for you: a 7’2” medium (862C BJR), and a 7’4” medium-heavy (863S BJR). There is also a group of rods for ledge fishing with hair jigs, football jigs, and flutter spoons, both of which are 7’7”. One is a medium-heavy (913C JWR) and the other is a heavy power (914C JWR).
