Daiwa USA channel,” added Arakawa. “Viewers can see the new product and our new video look with those.”

“We feel that we can create the best product by having our pros contributing in the design and testing as much as possible and we feel that our videos featuring our pros doing that helps share the excitement and motivation that our they have for the Daiwa products they are a part of,” said Arakawa.

PROJECT T LEADS TO CONFIDENCE

Some rods and reels are sent to market without much thought or testing. Daiwa doesn’t believe in doing that.

“It gives me confidence in my equipment when I see the great lengths these guys go to” added Howell. “They make sure everything is the best that it can be. It is the same as with the rod engineers. They’ve worked tirelessly to get each pro’s signature series rods to be built exactly how we want it.”

The pros have approved the entire arsenal of Daiwa rods and reels in Howell’s boat, and that gives him satisfaction knowing he is equipped with the best possible gear to do his job on the water.

“You can count on Daiwa to lead the way in innovation and excellence,” he added.

Looking inside Project T and the new Tatula Elite videos gives you an appreciation for the time and effort that it takes to produce rods and reels. Instead of just building something and adding a pro angler’s name to it or just giving them something to promote, the Daiwa products were the result of the input from some of the best bass anglers in the world. •

PROJECT T SUCCESS STORIES

There have been several of these secret design meetings over the years, and the result was many novel ideas and real technologies that are being fished today.

“Project T is where the T-Wing system was born and where we helped to develop the SV spool for anti-backlash casting,” recalled Howell.

The T-Wing is a unique Daiwa system that looks like a “T” that allows the line to flow more freely. The result is less friction and even casting, which allows for longer casts.

The SV spool is another of the ideas that came about from a Project T event. It features an Air Brake System, which helps anglers cast lighter lures and also helps to prevent the dreaded backlash.

These are just two examples of technologies that were born from these meetings, Howell assured us that there are more innovations on the way.

“Two videos released after ICAST that highlighted the Tatula Elite Long Cast and the Tatula Elite P/F (Pitch and Flip) are available on the Daiwa website and the
