“The Project T videos allowed the audience to watch the process and the camaraderie of the anglers,” said Arakawa.
In the spirit of innovation, the team continues to meet, create and refine their gear; however, changes have occurred to the coverage of the events. A new look and feel can be seen for the mid-2019 video releases.
“With Project T, we wanted to move towards an experience that our American audience can relate to – with the music and without the subtitles and things like that,” explained Arakawa. “Other versions of Project T will continue on the Japan X USA YouTube channel, while the Daiwa USA channel will feature the videos for the American audience. They will be the Tatula Elite videos”
These fishing trips generate new ideas and help engineers share what they can do with those who are going to take those ideas and put them to use.

FROM BOARDROOMS TO BOATS
With Project T, Daiwa pro anglers and the engineers split their time between board rooms and on the water. Instead of just talking about product ideas, they use the time to develop plans how it matters most, with actual fishing. While the Project T videos are getting a new name and channel, the project’s concept of integrated creation, input and design will continue.
“We start in meeting rooms and then quickly move to the boats,” said Howell. “Each pro angler fishes with an engineer from Daiwa. We give them input on what we would like to see in new reels and give them ideas on how to make their great reels even better.”
