all time bass fishing offers a bass fisherman
the opportunity to both target big bass and
numbers of bass, as all the fish are putting
on the feed bag to fatten up before the long winter ahead. Here are some of my top lures
to target fall bass.
WALK-THE-DOG PLUG
Using this type of plug is a great way to mimic fish feeding on the water’s surface, which is what bass are keying in on in the fall.
What is nice about this style of topwater plug is you can work the bait as slow or as fast as you need to. So if the weather is warm I can work it quick, while if it is on the chillier side, I can walk- the-dog in slower cadence to call bass up to the surface.
There are numerous topwater plugs that walk- the-dog; several of my favorites include the original Zara Spook, Reaction Innovations Vixen and the Strike King Sexy Dawg. Each of these plugs does the same thing, but each has its own unique sound and side-
to-side sway, so developing confidence in each is important as you’ll never know which one a bass may
want on any given day.

Suggested Gear: Using a short rod, that has a soft tip, but strong backbone will aid in you making your bait walk-the-dog. This type of rod will give when the bass hits, so the hooks won’t pull out.
