and your imagination. You will only progress to the point that you believe you will.

I have written other articles about what it takes to get sponsors

and marketing yourself in this

industry, so I won’t elaborate more

in this article.

SPEECH 101

There are some of the other

very important skills you may

need to work on. The first and

not the least of which is public

speaking.

Learn to talk in front of

people so you can do seminars

for tackle stores and boat

dealers. This will get you in front

of customers and the companies who can help you progress in this sport want to get those potential customers educated about their stuff. Doing this can open doors that you wouldn’t get behind any other way.

Hopefully, you will get to the point when you are invited to speak at sport shows. Here you will have large numbers of potential customers listening to what you have to say about products they will be interested in, if you do your job well. Be honest and you will develop integrity by consistently helping others with honest information.

Something that I believe is missing in our sport is this kind of servant mentality. I can tell someone exactly how and where I caught my fish and they still have to execute that information and almost never can. Since they won’t or can’t duplicate your success, why be so secretive. This secretive nature will not help you sell your sponsors products. Neither will being dishonest about the use of those products or catching fish on different lures than what you told others. This behavior displays your lack of integrity and will hinder (if not completely stall) any progress in becoming a professional fisherman. I think you get my point.
