TIP: Red Crawler or Oxblood Light are good

colors. There are times that I may switch to match

the color of the crawdads, using a brown or brown

and purple worm. In the winter months, I use shad

colors. For spring months, I may paint the weight

brown or green.

WEEDLESS EZ SHAD

WHAT: I fish a weedless setup for

the EZ Shad with a 5/0 Gamakatsu Weighted EWG (1/4 oz) belly weighted hook.

WHEN&WHERE: I make long casts and use a steady retrieve, keeping the rod tip still, making no jerking motions. I fish this on grass flats or weed line situations. It is a good presentation for stripers or largemouth in the fall or springtime, pre spawn or spawn.

TIP: I like to bend the hook out about 1/16 of an inch, putting the bend in at the curve of the hook, not right at the tip. The tip will still be buried into the EZ Shad. To add a little wiggle and a different presentation, every once in a while, I will cut a little slice in the tail about 1/16 inch long. It gives it a bit more action. I use Hologram Shad, Blueback Minnow or SXE Shad.
