behind. today the show is up on the same day it airs most times on both westernbass.com and the ultimatebassradio.com webpage and the biggest boost to our listeners is the ability to download a free podcast on itunes to their phone or iPod and listen when they want. The different avenues have allowed us thousands of listeners and expanded our listenership across the country.
it is always interesting when someone asks me on Wednesday who is going to be on the show and i tell them i don’t know. i usually put the show together on Thursday and Friday and if there is a major tournament going on then i am often chasing guys down into the night on Friday to get a recording. That is the fun part of the show getting the chance to talk to the anglers when they are in the heat of the battle. i have had favorite shows and interviews but the ones where the guys are in a position to win a major event, angler of the year or championship tournament are special. i had the all access pass to Skeet reese during his run at BaSS angler of the Year and it was fun to ride along with him during the year. riding along with him during the two post season fish
off disappointments was not so fun.
The show has allowed me to get the chance to do some things i might not have ever gotten the chance to do like filming an episode of one More Cast with Shaw Grigsby on Clear lake or City limits with Mike iaconelli on the Sacramento river or true Bass multiple times but my favorite was the day with dee Thomas on the delta. These were great to get the word out about the show to a national market. The friends i have made doing the show is probably the coolest part. anglers like Kevin Van dam and Mark Zona have both become regular guests on the show and are good friends now. i have also gotten to meet guys like Gerald Swindle, Jeff Kreit, rick Clunn, Mike McClelland, terry Scroggins and so many more from across the country.
My first priority is following the Western guys whenever we can and although they are all friends they have made themselves available even when they were busy and didn’t have time. Skeet, ish, Gary dobyns, Brent ehrler, John Murray, Justin lucas, Jared lintner are all awesome guys that have helped out so much.
it is always a special show when we get one of the guys into the studio with us and it’s enjoyable to
see them get nervous when the red light goes
