bed. By releasing him away from the bed, he can no longer guard the bed and the big female has to come out of hiding. With male gone, there is nothing in the way to chase her away from the bait. Getting the female when the male is gone, should be cake. in our area, several waves of the spawn occur, so just because it isn’t spring anymore doesn’t mean that favorite spawning areas aren’t holding fish and in post spawn times the vegetation may attract them back for sum shade or i can sometimes get them near a favorite rock or bend in the bank.

another thing i do when i get to banks is check to see what everyone else is throwing. i’ll usually try a totally different bait and technique if they’re telling me they haven’t caught anything yet and they are throwin’ stick baits, i’ll throw rip baits. if they are Spookin’, then i’m flippin’. if you start separating yourself from the pack that is all throwing the same bait, all the time, you’ll start to notice yourself doing more catchin’ and less fishin’. Bass are smarter than you think. When they see the same bait getting thrown at them all day in the same area, they know something just isn’t right and this can happen more often than not when you’re fishing popular bank areas. You cannot be afraid to switch it up and be different.
