Monroe is the designer of not one, but two signature line of Snag Proof frogs. His latest is a poppin’ version known as the Poppin’ Phattie. When the wind blows, make noise. on windy days, you want something loud to attract them. This frog makes the most amount of noise possible. You have to throw it in the chop on windy days. Move water. Use a cadence that will make it displace water. This frog can get a big spray on mats. instead of popping your rod tip, you want to use a pull and drag retrieve. Start with your rod tip at the 4 o’clock position, move it down about six inches to the 5 o’clock position; but don’t snap it. it’s more of a pull, while you turn your rod handle to take up the line at the same time. Pick the right color. i like black on cloudy days and white on sunny days, while mixing in a Sexy ish or Stinky Green to change it up. if i’m seeing shad a similar color like Crystal is best. Put it where they don’t see it. Cast your frog to places the frogs don’t normally see baits - in the hard to get to spots. Put it under docks or back of trees, lily pads or tules. on clear water lakes, try the shade pockets or dark spots. Hook ‘em hard. as soon as the Phattie disappears, set the hook hard with a straight up motion. The movement should take your rod from the 4 or 5 ‘o clock position to the 11o’clock position. delta local, ish Monroe is a two tour pro on both the Bassmaster elite Series and the FlW tour with over 1 million in career earnings in B.a.S.S. alone.
