I

often get inquires about what tackle i use and why. as a girl with a strong passion for fishing, when i get a chance to discuss it i love it! Here is what i use on a regular basis and why i use it:

Daiwa Rods and Reels: a guy by the name of Joe ochoa turned me onto the daiwa brand, about 10 years ago. Since then you would always find them amongst my setups. it wasn’t until a few years ago that i became sponsored by them, and now i’m lucky enough to fish them exclusively. The Zillion, Steez and Fuego is so light weight that it sure makes it easier on my arms at the end of the day. another thing i just love is the sensitivity of the rods. There are many times when using my daiwa Zillion, Steez and dropshot rods (tdX and the Fuego) i am able to feel bites that my fishing partners do not sense. Therefore, i continue on with the feeling “i don’t want to change what is working”.

Tackle Bags: My favorite changes every year since there are always new models coming out. in the past i have used many different ones, including Plano, Bass Pro Shops, but right now it is definitely the daiwa tackle bag. Fishing as a Co-angler can create challenges since we must downsize in the amount of tackle we would like to carry. For me i like to have a small bag that is easy to get into, and very organized. This daiwa bag has pouches inside the zip up compartments on each side, plus the top of the bag is a flat that also zips close. The other feature i love is that i don’t have to zip up my bag before cruising across the water, it has a latch to hold the flap down! Very easy and convenient in so many ways. it must have been designed specifically for us anglers!

Fishing Line: i use different lines, daiwa Samurai, Hi Seas, Maxima, but usually i use 100% Seaguar. Why? Well to be honest with you, it’s one of those things i just can’t explain other than, that is what i see Mike Folkestad using, and it seems to be working for him, so i’m using it.

Hooks: This depends on the technique. When fishing a dropshot, i usually use the robo rebarb. When using the “tC rig” i like to use a pyramid swim head that i poured myself (3/16 oz, sometimes ¼ oz). For the wacky rigged Senko, i usually use a Gamakatsu finesse wide gap.

See you on the water!
