and the Award goes to...

ost know "What happens in Vegas,
stays in Vegas; however when what
is happening in Vegas is the world's
largest sportfishing trade show, that cliché doesn't hold true. iCaSt 2011 rocked Sin
City for three days in July, drawing nearly 7,000
sportfishing industry representatives from 63
countries, offering a "premier showcase for the
latest innovations in fishing gear, accessories and
apparel."
annually, the highlight of the iCaSt show is
their "New Product Showcase awards". Ground-
breaking gadgets, innovative inventions and creative
accoutrements are put before the industry buyers
and outdoor media to be judged, voted upon and
bestowed the title of a "Best of" award.
The "Best ofs" were announced at the show
and press releases revealing the honors were soon
to follow; but those fishing enthusiasts that weren't
in attendance just aren't always able to get the
full feeling of the new products from a spec sheet,
Western Bass steps in to offer a more personal look
at some of the more unique of the "Best ofs" and a
few of the cool items, that didn't make the cut to the
award ceremony.

Pure Fishing, Inc., Berkley will be dusting off the mantel two trophies. one for top honors of Best line and one for overall Best of Show with their new creation; NanoFil. The buzz on Berkley's NanoFil is... "no ,it's not a mono" and "no, it's not a

braid". Berkley reps state, "NanoFil is made out of gel- spun polyethylene, much like a superline; it is a uni- filament." The line's strength comes from dyneema, The World's Strongest Fiber.
