JON BAIOCCHI is a licensed fly- fishing guide, author, educator, and tier. Jon pursued a career as a professional snowboarder, but in 1993 focused entirely on fly fishing and conservation. “Mastering the Dry Fly” covers a brief history of the dry fly and those anglers who were involved from the beginning, simple to complex presentations, understanding rise forms, approaching water structure, plus tips and his favorite patterns .

MIKE COSTELLO: Mike’s Saturday afternoon talk on Seasons of the Delta is packed with great photos and information from this full-time fly-fishing guide who wrote the book on these waters.

AARON GRABIEL: The Expo welcomes Aaron to the stage. He notes that catch-and-release is the mantra of the fly-fishing industry--and for good reason. It means more fish for others to catch and, in many areas where stream degradation or invasive species have encroached, the practice is necessary to maintain a healthy native fish population. That’s great but let’s not forget that fly fishing also serves quite well to put food on the table. As a guide, Aaron frequently is asked: “Is it okay to keep fish?” Come to Aaron’s seminar to learn about what’s appropriate, plus fishing tips, of course. And also meet a chef and forager, both of whom deepen the process and enjoyment of fly fishing NorCal waters.

ERNIE GULLEY: Are you frustrated when fishing at Crowley Lake or another still-water fishery? Ever wonder why some anglers catch most of the fish and others are struggling? Gulley will break down every aspect you’ll need to be successful, including: migration and location, flies, leader setups, anchoring your craft, and how to find the perfect depth for your fly.

MATT HERON has a decade of guiding the Truckee and Little Truckee. His seminar addresses sections of the river and access points, water types, seasons and regs, techniques and fly selection.

CHRIS KING has been guiding and teaching fly fishing and casting for more than 20 years. He has achieved the highest certification with both a single- and double-hand rod from the Federation of Fly Fishers and is an emeritus member of the organization’s Board of Governors. His presentation will cover the most- consistent trout fishery in the West-- Redding’s Lower Sacramento.

DOUG OUELLETTE’ s talk is about Pyramid Lake, Nevada, home of the world’s largest Cutthroat Trout. He’ll cover several “retrieves” with shooting-head lines, floating lines with and without indicators, leader set-ups, fly patterns, and equipment.

BRYAN QUICK: director of outfitters and guides at The Fly Shop, Bryan will cover the Best of Northern

California’s year-around fly-fishing for a variety of species, using a variety of techniques on streams, rivers, and stillwaters–both public and private.

DENNY RICKARDS has fished and guided anglers on western trophy waters for three decades. Many anglers consider his books and companion videos the stillwater fly-fishing bibles.

MIKE RIESER: The five-year odyssey writing his book, Fly Fishing the Baja and Beyond, summed up guide and Capt. Mike Rieser’s 30 years of exploring the Baja Peninsula, and fishing the waters of the Pacific and Sea Of Cortez. Come learn!

GREG VINCI : This author, writer and photographer also runs California-FlyFishing.com , and is a signature tyer for Umpqua. He’ll detail Central Valley tailwaters, and fly-fishing along Highway 395.

MIKE WILLIS: A guide and teacher, Mike is also an ambassador for Tenkara USA, which makes fishing gear for an ancient method that originated in Japan. Effective and fun to learn, Tenkara employs a rod, line and a fly. A great first step into fishing, Tenkara-style is an excellent option for hikers, cyclists, climbers, paddlers, canyoners, boulderers, photographers, backpackers and anyone who seeks lightweight, ease- of-packing.
