Many activities pack Building 5, hosted by GEC Boy Scouts of America, which also offers a free rock-climbing wall. Youth Fair sponsors Cal Parks Boating and Waterway and Off High- way Motor Vehicle Recreation divisions have stuffed Building 6 with even more hands-off fun! Buildings 7 and 8 feature the following groups and activities:

CALIFORNIA BOWMEN presents the very popular archery range. SPECIAL GIVEAWAYS: free raffle of two Genesis bow kits ($500 value) and four gift certificate (various denomina- tions).

CALIFORNIA FLYFISHERS UNLIMITED teaches youth to tie a Wooly Bugger, all the materials provided. Barbless hooks are used and the young tiers safely takes home his or her fly.

CALIFORNIA WATERFOWL ASSOCIATION offers live ducklings to handle! The “Wonders of Waterfowl” also includes exciting games like corn hole, Airsoft range and photo-opportunity board. Wood-duck boxes help youth learn about waterfowl conservation.

CENTER FOR RECONNECTING WITH NATURE will be flying and exhibiting live hawks and falcons. CRWN’s mission is to counter the effects of life lived in front of screens and indoors. SPECIAL GIVEAWAY : one-hour beginner falconry lesson valued at $70.00 (available Jan.-Apr. or Nov-Dec.)

EDDIE EAGLE celebrates 30 years of teaching children what to do if they find a gun: Stop! Don’t touch. Run Away. Tell a grown-up. Booth activities include learning stations, workbooks, stickers and other prizes! Kids can dress up at the Eddie Eagle photo booth.

FISHING IN THE CITY offers Aquatic Education and beginner casting.

KEEP ME WILD: Get the “Bear Facts” about keeping bears wild and away from homes and campgrounds. Walk through our camp and learn the dos and don’ts of camping in bear country. Take our nosey test to see how your nose stacks up against a bears’ sense of smell.

NIMBUS HATCHERY : Explore the life cycle of salmon and steelhead trout. Stop by to spin the Salmon Survival Wheel— what would your fate be if you were a salmon? Play a round of salmon bingo, and make yourself a salmon hat!

WILDERNESS UNLIMITED offers free catch-and-release fishing at Lucy’s Pond, outside of Building 8. All gear and instructors are provided for the youth anglers.
