RAINSHADOW ROD BLANK

TECHNOLOGY

MATERIALS

Choosing the correct combination of materials is a key component of blank design. Since there is no single material that will magically make a perfect rod blank, it takes knowledge and experience to fi nd just the right blend. When designing the vast majority of blanks, a precision blend of various graphite and fi berglass types must be used to achieve the desired results. Our Jaguar Design™ team uses only the world’s fi nest materials from top manufacturers like Toray, all of which are formulated to our own proprietary speci fi cations using custom resin systems.

Material choices are obviously important, but the right design pattern processes are equally critical. We stay on top of every single aspect like pattern cutting, mandrel prepping, material handling, factory cleanliness, and climate control. The uncompromising standard of quality control that we have in place allows us to achieve a level of consistency not found in any other blanks. Even though each RainShadow™ model requires different materials and processing, all of our products bene fi t from the same levels of care and engineering.

prepreg

Pictured is a typical roll of graphite prepreg. Comprised of carbon fi ber, a scrim system, and a resin system, it is the foundation for every single blank we design. Prepreg forms a cloth that can be cut into different shapes and customized proprietary patterns that is used in the construction of a fi shing rod blank. When we talk about using proprietary materials and resin systems, it translates into carefully choosing the speci fi c carbon fi ber, scrim system, resin system, and resin content to apply when making our various materials. After the prepreg is ordered under strict guidelines from our most trusted suppliers, it’s used in making our fi nest RainShadow™ blanks.
