lure
jason misner’s soft plastic Build-off
popping baby ‘gil was judged “best overall” in the following criteria:
originality - it’s a new twist on an already popular category which is not an easy thing to accomplish in the first place; – it’s a soft plastic, weedless, frightened, wounded or dying baitfish profile lure designed to pop... nice.
functionality - it floats, is weedless and looks like a dying baitfish, plus can be used in a wide variety of environments and worked at a wide range of speeds and volumes.
performance - no question this lure will perform in a wide variety of environments and could exist in much iteration to emphasize varying performance characteristics.
breadth of application - targets one of the biggest markets which is bass but overall design concept will also catch many other species in a wide variety of applications, especially where junk or snags are an issue, plus allows a wide range of choice and room for imagination in rigging.
overall effectiveness - It’s softer, they’re gonna hang on to it longer than something that’s hard as a rock. Does a well designed hard Popper catch fish? Will a well designed soft plastic virtually snagless popper that looks like a struggling baby bluegill catch fish? Absolutely.
