500-pounds of sand on the inside of the boat to hold it down in the waves. Sand bags help to reduce bouncing, but they cause sore backs and greatly reduce speed and acceleration in better conditions. The biggest problem with these methods is their lack of convenience. The folks at Drift Control set out to create a product that solved all of the problems. The result was a drift sock that does much more than that. Though Drift Control products do slow the

boat down and reduce bouncing in rough water, they have also been tested and proven effective in several other areas. By varying the position where the drift sock is tied, anglers find they are able to position the boat to drift at a certain angle along the structure they are fishing. Trolling with kicker motors has been made all but obsolete as anglers can use two drift socks to slow the boat to a crawl. Catfish anglers on rivers with strong current have found that by using a drift sock in

addition to their boat anchor, they are able to eliminate the normal swaying usually created with an anchor alone. Finally, in case of emergency, drift socks can be tossed out to hold a boat close to a position where rescuers may find them or to delay washing up on shore when motors are out of commission. For serious anglers, Drift Control Drift Socks are an essential tool to angling and boat control. Get the Drift!

Choosing the Right Drift Sock

This chart provides a rule of thumb to help determine drift sock size for general drift-fishing use. Remember that heavy material (Fisherman Series and Magnum Series) provides more drag than lighter material (Original Series), allowing the angler to get by with a smaller sock for the same job. Light-weight material dries faster and stores easier.
