ISE’sFishing Program showcases local and national experts, major factories, retailers and no-charge learning opportunities at the NCCFFF Fly-Tying How-To Center, Fly Pond, and the Fly Fishing Theater, sponsored by Cal Trout.

GREAT FLY FISHING IN & NEARBY presents daily seminars by local guides Ron Speroni and Phil White . We all have less time to fish. Or, we don’t have bucks to travel right now. So, here’s the low-down on great fishing...close to home. These talks are for beginners to experts.

ERNIE GULLEY , new to ISE’s stage, will break down every aspect needed to succeed at stillwater fly fishing on Crowley Lake, including: flies, leader setups, anchoring your craft, finding the perfect depth for your fly, plus fish migration.

JEFF PUTNAM owns a fly-fishing school and will offer two talks. Steelheading 101 describes what it takes to catch a steelhead on a fly, covering gear, destinations, techniques and fish behavior. Trout Techniques will uncover the behavior of trout and discuss many important and relevant techniques that will help you to catch more fish.

LANCE GRAY will offer two talks. Fly Fishing Lassen Volcanic National Park, from Manzanita Lake to Kings Creek, covers wild brown, brook and rainbow. The second talk, Steelheading Valley Rivers, looks at the American, Feather

and Sacramento Rivers, covering access areas, riffles, equipment and rigging. This is a nuts-and- bolts presentation for fly fishers who want to get out and fish the next day.

MIKE E. WIER (Mikey) owns Burl Productions, which creates high-energy fly-fishing videos. He also works with California Trout on conservation projects. Mikey will have two presentations. Fly Fishing he North Coast profiles one of California’s most underrated fishing areas, which can produce great steelhead in winter months... if you’re in the right spots at the right times. Mikey’s other program, Fly Fishing the Truckee, will cover the entire watershed–upper Truckee, main Truckee and little Truckee rivers–by season.

JOHN SHERMAN ’s Fly Fishing for Delta Stripers is a visual tour through the incredible fishery that he lives on. He’ll cover tackle, techniques, fish habits and migration patterns and where and when to fish this amazing fishery that’s less than an hour from Sacramento.

LANDON MAYER is one of America’s fast- rising trout experts who has written several

books including Sight Fishing for Trout. His talk, Inside Tips, Outside of the Guide’s Box, gathers techniques from 17 years of guiding. His other talk, Sight Fishing Colorado’s Four Seasons, unlocks the great sight-fishing secrets found during the fabled fishing state’s four seasons.

DENNY RICKARDS has fished and guided anglers on western trophy waters for three decades, taking cutthroats to 15 pounds, rainbows in excess of 16, and browns over 20. Rickards’s books and companion videos are the bibles for stillwater fly fishing.

CRAIG NIELSEN owns Shasta Trout. He’ll explore the ins and outs of steelhead in our local California rivers, including swinging flies, indicator-fishing, Spey casting, plus the types of gear recommended for the various methods.

JUSTIN MILLER has long chased steelhead, from Alaska to Russia. Along with being a part of the team at The Fly Shop, Justin continues to guide for steelhead in California and Kamchatka.
